The dust hasn’t even settled off the back of the Steve Aoki experience last month and we already have A1 Bassline touching down in less than two weeks. Christian Sibthorpe started DJ’ing at the ripe old age of 12 and had his first release at the age of 16 under the name of Infamy. He started the project just over a year ago influenced by old garage, drum and bass, hip hop and house.
He has a number of remixes under his belt including: Ladyhawke, Little Boots, The Virgins, Rochelle, FrankMusik, Yo Majesty, Esser, Cadence Weapon, The Qemists ft.Wiley, Ghost Frequency, Glamour For Better, Alex Roots, Heavy Feet , Buraka Som Sistema, Example, the list goes on. But it was his Girl Thing EP (Meal Deal) which made his name popular and was massive on the blogs. He has had support from the likes of Armand van Heldon, Fake Blood, Sinden, Jack Beats, Annie Mac, Trevor Nelson, Rob da Bank, Kissy Sell Out, Andy George, Bloody Beetroots and more.
His next single will be Bad Man Horror theme, which is currently the track behind the Nike 5 campaign ( Nike being one of his sponsors), due to come out in the summer. A1 is also hoping to finish his reworking of Adamski’s Killer in time for a 20th anniversary release also in the summer. The press has been kind, with features in Dazed, Front, Stool Pigeon and tipped for the top by NME, aswell as 4**** reviews in DJ and MixMag.
On the live/DJ front Christian has toured the USA/ Mexico 3 times, Canada, most of Europe and is looking forward to a tough schedule ahead, with festivals including Bestival, Mad Ferret, Creamfields and a tour of Australia to look forward to. You will soon be able to catch A1 in Live Mix sessions with Rob da Bank, Annie Mac and Pete Tong and on BBC 5.19 (Switch).
He’ll be supported by SA stalwarts Sibot (Real Estate Agents/Playdoe) and Markus Wormstorm (Real Estate Agents/Sweat.X) and up & comers ShuffleShame, Musical Chairs & visuals by Messy Perfection. Look out for the ticket giveaway competition next week for an easy chance of winning FREE entrance to the gig.
We’ve had so much fun bumping his Ministry of Sound Mixtape for a little minute now. Listen, judge for yourself and download it for keeps.
